How to Save Gandrel in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Act 1 , as you explore the natural state of Faerun , there ’s a good chance you ’ll run to Gandrel in the south of the Riverside Teahouse . But if you speak to him , there ’s a pretty enough fortune he winds up dead , at least ifAstarionis in your political party . Fortunately , there are a few ways to stop Gandrel from dying .
1) Don’t have Astarion in your party
Gandrel dies because Astarion kills him . Thus , the unspoiled way to avoid this lot is to not have Astarion in your party . When Astarion is miss , Gandrel will be evasive about what he ’s search . This is to keep you out of danger . You ’ll have to pass a suasion check to learn that he ’s hunt a particular vampire spawn .
2) Hand over Astarion
If you have Astarion in your company , and you know Astarion ’s lawful nature , you could opt to give him to Gandrel . If you do this , Gandrel will heave up Astarion over his shoulder and just leave with him . This will for good remove Astarion from your company . And while we ca n’t really verbalize to the ultimate fate of Astarion if you prefer to do this , we can suspect it ’s nothing good .
But , on a prescribed promissory note , Gandrel survives .
3) Leave the conversation
If you ’re speaking to Gandrel and Astarion is in your party , simply end the conversation as cursorily as possible . If you do n’t , Astarion will take matter into his own hands and kill Gandrel . Once the conversation ends , just take the air away from Gandrel and let him live in peace .
If you ’ve successfully saved Gandrel from Astarion , you ’ll even be able to run into him again at a Gur camp much later in the game .
