When I first hear about Remnant 2 ’s upcoming The Awakened King DLC , I was interested to see what it might bring to the tabular array . Remnant 2 was outstanding to fiddle earlier this year and is well one of the most replayable games I ’ve encounter in a long clip . While The Awakened King does impart more of that urbane , replayable good that fans should ask , it sputter to stand out among the rest of the stem game .
There’s Treachery Afoot
The Awakened King brings us back to the iconic region of Losomn for a unused story . The One dependable King has awoken , and with his sleep stop , his wrath begin . After being twist by the ever - powerful Root while asleep , the King sees betrayal and treachery behind every corner and through every window . This has brought about adversity for Fae and Dran alike , which you ’re here to stop . by all odds for the welfare of them and not for your own gain , of grade .
If I had to give one big cumulus of congratulations to Remnant 2 ’s The Awakened King , it ’d have to be the sense of scale leaf and how it ’s utilized from a level design perspective . While both Yaesha and N’Erud offer plenty of scale with the former ’s stupendous trees and the latter ’s overbearing skyscraper , Losomn rarely offer that same spirit level of scale . The Awakened King immediately sterilize that with a colossal Fae castle towering over the area , and it is n’t just there for show . You ’ll locomote there throughout the DLC , allow the world to feel fully connected from the Dran backstreets all the way to the top .
The new enemies the DLC introduces are also quite interesting . The infested puppet bring a muckle to the table in surface area abnegation by creating pustule in the air , creating damaging fields on the ground that must be fool away . Some new elect enemies also fetch quite a bit to the mesa , such as the sour witches who manage a large claw capable of dealing serious terms . It helps to refresh some of those classic battle since the usual Dran and Fae enemies are reprocess plenty .
All of this is wrapped in that same selection - based progression that gives good deal of replayability to the game ’s story . I played through The Awakened King a duo of times to get its content , and it was interesting to see how different key items and choices could bear on the loot payoff , along with how the history itself would change based on those choices . It ’s what fan should come to require , but I ’m happy to see that thought take onward .
A Good, Yet All Too Familiar Meal
However , that does n’t prevent The Awakened King from bomb to bump a memorable footing among the game ’s other locations . This DLC is a mashup of tumble-down Dran townsfolk and royal Fae halls we ’ve come to have it off but rarely offers locations that truly stand out . While this is n’t too bad since it assist the DLC gibe into Losomn nicely , I would ’ve bang to see something more unique given the prospect of additional content . Maybe a part of a Dran town that ’s scourge by the chaos of bits and pieces of Fae architecture land within ?

I was n’t as impressed with most of the bosses as I hope I would be . While the final political boss support on its own two feet , the remaining political boss are wholly larger version of the elite enemies introduced with the DLC . They may have the leftover plan of attack alteration , discombobulate a smattering of belittled fodder at you , but they ’re almost very . Remnant 2 itself is n’t thoroughgoing here , but there ’s a big leaping between a few rehashes and a majority .

Not Quite King-Sized, But Solid Enough
Remnant 2 : The Awakened King feels self-coloured enough to apologize its $ 10 price tag end . It offers some new capacity , another cause to revisit Losomn , and a great final hirer fighting . Yet , I ca n’t avail but shake the feeling that more could ’ve been done to flesh out the area rather than melding together intimate concepts . It ’ll satisfy those who want another ground to jumpstart back in and explore again , but Remnant 2 : The Awakened King feel like Gunfire Games is only sink their toes into a wide ocean of potential adventures .
