We review the Separate Ways DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake , and we can substantiate it ’s a deadly full time .
Back in March , I had done my very first review for this website , which was for Resident Evil 4 Remake . And now , six calendar month later , I ’m back with Ada reviewing the long - awaitedSeparate WaysDLC . Although it feels like it ’s been forever since I played the remaking , it did n’t take long to settle myself into the controls and feel of this world . Because of how much I enjoyed Resident Evil 4 Remake , I knew I was ready to hop-skip on the disjoined Ways DLC for a reappraisal .
For a mere $ 10 USD , Resident Evil 4 : Separate Ways is desirable of the price as a pretty in - depth DLC , as I ’ll explain further in this review . It felt great to get back to this game — but in a whole new visible light . freestanding Ways definitely feels like a DLC that you should n’t miss if you play RE4R back in March . And I do n’t believe for a second it should be gratis ; it honestly feels like it should be worth more since it adds over four hours of content .

Two missions, two colliding paths
While Leon ’s charge to save the president ’s girl lent itself to around 15 hour of contentedness , Ada ’s missionary station to get the Amber is the perfect amount of content to experience like a tribute to the original biz and original Separate Ways . Although I never played the original , hearing how Separate Ways bestow content missing from the remake like the QTE laser scene feltright . Separate Ways is like the last teaser piece to a full narration — you ’d be miss out on the whole RE4R experience if you do n’t work this .
Familiar gameplay led me to feel like I knew what I was doing , but there were a few new characteristic that made this DLC unparalleled . For exercise , Ada ’s Grapple Gun was extremely fun to use , particularly when using it to melee attack . I establish it pestering when Leon would have to run close enough to melee , but instead , Ada can do it from afar with her wrestling . There were also the intimate Requests but with their own twirl and twists . When one moment felt a small too intimate , the game pulled me back to something a little more unique .
I also eff see the moment when Leon and Ada would cross paths . Everything commence to make more common sense , especially when she interacted with Luis . If you do n’t bet the DLC , you may not understand what Ada ’s motives were . But after playing Separate Ways , you get to understand and sympathize with her a lot more . She ’s very much fleshed out and feels a fate less like a side lineament . I could even say that Resident Evil 4 Remake has two principal characters , as both Leon and Ada are highly crucial to the secret plan .

Short, but sweet
Of course , I ca n’t complain too much that a $ 10 DLC only gave us around 5 time of day of content , it ’s in reality a lower price than I ’d thought it ’d be . But I do finger like I ’m already missing my time with the game . Ada ’s chapter are a lot quicker than Leon ’s , which is fair , given what Capcom had to mould with from the original . But in certain case , I feel like the self-aggrandizing moments could ’ve been stretched further . My favored knob competitiveness happened quite early in the game , where Ada was swinging between buildings to struggle this giant monster .
But her final fight felt a little underwhelming for me . specially since it was more like the harbinger to the final battle , which was meant for Leon . Without spoil , your final gameplay moments with Ada are more about helping Leon on the side . While I understand that the concluding fight is for Leon , even Ada ’s personal final knob conflict become by reasonably easy . I much more enjoyed the political boss campaign betimes in the game that let her use her amazing grapple maneuver .
That is n’t to say that I did n’t enjoy the combat . Resident Evil 4 ’s fighting turns it up a notch from Resident Evil 2 . There are a few repugnance mo that made me sweat , but most of RE4R is satiate with fast action mechanism . Ada is a highly - train mercenary , and she plays like it . She ’s super gratifying to control , especially with her Grapple Gun , as I ’ve already remark . She used basically all of the same weapon system as Leon , but it would ’ve been coolheaded to see her use a few special weapons that only Ada employ .

More than you bargained for
Even after finishing Separate Ways , you unlock new things like costume and New Game Plus . This makes the rematch value extremely high , making the cost worthy of seek this DLC out . If you ’re look for a solid eight - 60 minutes experience , playing through this DLC doubly is worth it . New Game Plus with a game that is n’t too long makes you want to jump right back into the action .
I also feel like Capcom could ’ve easily just slap on a twain hours of deadening cognitive content standardized to the main game and telephone it a day . Instead , you revisit old location , and also brand - newfangled single — and even fall one Leon was supposed to have been at in the original . Capcom understandably cares about Ada as a character , and she matters a bunch to the plot , more than you agnise . You even get this new I.R.I.S. engineering that give up Ada to rake footprints and fingerprints for clues . You only utilize this feature a few times , and I wish it was more prevailing within the gameplay .
Challenging fights, but easy puzzles
The one matter I did wish for was more complex puzzles . While certain teaser in Separate Ways made you believe , most of them are solvable on the fly . Of naturally , it ’s not advertised or designed to be a mystifier game , but it sometimes feel a little too simple for my predilection . To equate , RE2 ’s puzzle were complicated sometimes , and I appreciate how much it made me sit and call up about the solution .
I ca n’t blame the DLC too much , since RE4R was n’t the Billie Jean King of puzzles , either . Most of them were easy to compass , and you could finish them in a forgetful amount of time . But there were those few puzzles that really stumped me , which never happened in Separate Ways . The puzzles here felt more like roadblock I could recoil over , instead of something my brain could chew on for a scrap .
That is n’t to say I did n’t enjoy the parts that did n’t focalize on fight . The pacing of this plot allow me to never feel like I was totally running out of ammunition , and I never feel weight down by combat . You ’d often go from a tense fight to a more calming puzzle . I ache for a little more astuteness to the puzzles , but again , this is much more of an action at law and repugnance game . The genres it focused on were able-bodied to make this game as great as it is .

A must-buy for any RE4 fan
I can promise you this : Resident Evil 4 Remake is not the same without playing Separate Ways . This DLC not only take a crap you infer the story and character more but adds engross armed combat and gameplay successiveness that left me wanting more . Although Separate Ways was short , it was an awful experience for a reasonably - priced DLC .
This game make me evermore interested in what Capcom has to offer with remaking and new Resident Evil championship . They know how to beat a remake — in a good way of life , of course of action . Hopefully , this revue was able to win over you enough to purchase Resident Evil 4 : Separate Ways ; you ’ll by all odds enjoy it if you loved RE4 Remake .
