It ’ll all be worth it if I never have to type " Theatrhythm " out again
It ’s amazing how time just halt work the same way when you get honest-to-god . Theatrhythm , Final Fantasy ’s musical score - chasing spinoff , still feel kind of young to me . But it ’s well over a decade older , and we ’re looking at The Last One . Jeez ! This series has endure across sentence and platforms , even hitting arcades with a gorgeous cabinet the likes of which only Square Enix would beat out out the John Cash for . Through all that metre , though , the secret plan itself has n’t alter much . So maybe that ’s why the Final Bar Line is here , to go out with a bang .
Theatrhythm has always been unearthly in structural terms , the first game sort of ( scantily ) experience a story mode but every other interpretation feeling more like a jukebox site . Final Bar Line want you to wreak all the songs , but does n’t put a ton of effort into need . You ’re just rather forced to bet through each secret plan to unlock the next one . It ’s ok , but still find weird for a big Final Fantasy spin - off to not have some whacky barely coherent story style . specially considering how tight this serial publication is with Dissidia .

pertain : All Announced Songs for Theatrhythm Final Bar Line
But while I ’d love more fanfare pushing me along , there ’s still the core Theatrhythm experience . All the wacky puppet , the point grinding and customization unlocks , everything that make a Final Fantasy music game a Final Fantasy music game is pretty corking . The vast shape of unlockable characters is a major draw , even if the “ RPG element ” are half - cocked to begin with . Does it really weigh which spells I equip my team with when I ’m not failing song anyway ? Not in most cases . But you got ta hump the chance to tinker .
Also , some compromise had to be made in the gameplay section . Theatrhythm debut on the 3DS and was explicitly designed for touchscreen play . Adapting thing like the hold notes to normal accountant buttons translated just awkwardly enough for me to point out every clip . Some of the multidirectional government note do n’t work out as well either , peculiarly since your hand might have to reorientate quickly depending on the note chart . There was an endeavour to alleviate this with multiple buttons sharing intention , but sometimes that hurt more than it helps .

Speaking of banging
Of course it ’s all in service of the music itself , the chief attraction . Sometimes you just wanna hit buttons while songs you sleep together but do n’t go out of your agency to whirl otherwise wash over your genius sludge . The main selection for each “ Title ” is the poppycock you ’d look , but there ’s some awe-inspiring music on the security deposit thanks to Square Enix ’s ludicrous library of arrangement albums . The FF III airship theme remix off the SQ CHIPS album is an unhinged banger and having it show up in Theatrhythm rules .
A huge marketing degree for Final Bar Line is its big excerpt of other Square Enix tunes . That ’s certainly a novel way to approach a sendoff . Unfortunately this is also where the DLC come in . Ya got ta compensate surplus for the big bonuses , and while that fix practical signified , it ’s a bummer one of the most sympathetic parts of the computer software are … separate software program . It also means these songs are n’t part of the “ campaign ” , so to speak , so they ’re just dump into the tracklist . It would ’ve been nerveless to see the songs come with characters and other in - biz goodies to help cushion the DLC damage . But hey , at the end of the daylight you may trifle SaGa and NieR music in Theatrhythm .
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is the vainglorious game in the serial without a doubt . But it ’s still just another secret plan in the serial , which lessen the impact a little . Despite all the big color , cute puppets and isolated tracks there ’s still a distinct feeling that something ’s missing . At the same metre , I ’m having a blast playing anyway .
