The Bloodstained Book
First things first : where can you get the blood trails ? They come out in the game ’s first phase , Haunted Caverns , in an area close to to the north - Rebecca West of your start location . The sacrificial shrines
This is chilling stuff , but also implausibly informative . It tells you not only where the blood line trail lead , but also what you may receive if you follow them : the Token of Pain . Once you ’re finish with the Book , you ’ll notice two track of blood leading away from it , so pick your favorite and accompany it through the stage . The trails are n’t constant , meaning you ’ll have to be deliberate not to lose them by moving too quickly . Once you reach the end of one , you ’ll line up yourself at one of the shrine the Book mentions . These take the form of piles of skulls , surrounded by a purplish circle , or three in the pillowcase of one of the shrines , with a bit displayed on top .
As the Book say , you ’ll need to declare oneself a forfeiture to each of these shrine in fiat to take in the two fragment of the Token of Pain . What that means in gameplay terms is thatyou’ll need to kill a number of monsters adequate to the bit displayed above the shrine within the bounds of the purple circle(s ) . This is fairly sluttish to orchestrate , since monsters tail you relentlessly in Halls of Torment , so just kite your way around the shrine and you should get your sacrificial quota done in no time . Once pure , a fragment of the Token of Pain will appear , which you could then accumulate .
The Token of Pain
Once you ’ve lay claim one tokenish sherd , you could follow the blood trail back to the Book , then travel along the other one to detect the other shrine : rinse the blood off and iterate . With both fragment collected , you ’ll have assembled the consummate Token of Pain , and the mystery of the line trail will effectively be over . And what will you receive for your efforts in figure out it ? A Brobdingnagian advantage in the final conflict of Haunted Caverns , that ’s what!If you bring the Token of Pain with you into the fight against the Lord of Pain , it will care a vast amount of scathe to him in good order off the bat : 60 % of his total health , in fact . This is a big help in a tough fight , and well worth the effort of assembling the Token .
